Jaco Beach

La Paloma Blanca (The White Dove) is located directly on the beach.  The complex has body boards for playing in the waves, and there is a wonderful small surf-lesson enterprise right outside the door with, in my experience, one of the best instructors in Costa Rica.  You could give surfing a try if you have always been interested, or refine your skills and enjoy the waves if you are already a surfer.  Warm water!!!!  No wetsuits!!  Sitting out on a board at sunset or sunrise is a transcendental zen experience.  

 

Sunsets on or off a board are amazing, as you can see, and you can stroll or jog or play in the waves or just take one of our beach chairs down, mix a drink or take a beer, and chat with a regular sunset crew.  There are also several wonderful restaurants right on this same beach only minutes away walking or riding your beach bike.    If you come only for the beach and to economically escape the winter slog for a week or two, you will have an amazing experience.
